Figures, girlfriend’s car decides not to start after getting gas in 100° heat. Negative battery cable was corroded and we had to sit around for like an hour waiting for her dad to get there with a wrench to take the cable off and scrape it.
At first we thought the starter was fried because the car would click once then do nothing. Plus all the internal electronics were working without issue so it really doesn’t make sense that the negative cable was dirty. But whatever, at least it didn’t need a tow.

There is a lesson learned here. Always keep a wrench (tools) with you.

Had the same issue once. Solved with the flat remains of a 2 litter of cola in the trunk.

I have a tool kit in my car on top of the one BMW puts in from the factory. Probably need to take her to get a little one.

One of the first things I bought my wife when we started dating was a small kit.

Shockingly, this is the only issue she's had in a year and a half of ownership. About to roll 149k.

wonder if you could have tried the Coke trick to clean the cable/post

Maybe, it was pretty bad though and I didn't have anything to scrub it in with.

I suppose it’s a new enough revision of the Vulcan it might not be scheming to pop an intake manifold gasket right as we speak. Maybe.

Let’s hope not.
Though we are talking about a car owned by a girl who’s really unlucky when it comes to cars. Her Camry died with only 121k on the clock and she wrecked her dads E36 after sliding on ice.

Maybe she just has reverse luck and the unexpected reliability of a Vulcan-engined Taurus means she should just drive Alfas from here on out.
